My artwork is a symbol of my past. It reflects an era gone by but not forgotten. An era of the simple life that was lived and cherished by the people at that time. My work is very representational of the subject matter I use in my paintings. I work in a variety of mediums, but I have a concentration in painting. I am currently working in watercolor on a large scale. My work at this point is being produced around a central theme, Fragments of Rural Past. This theme explores artifacts that have been left in nature and, over time, have weathered and aged. I am painting these objects in a manner of loose brushwork and the bleeding of wet-on-wet technique. I am inspired by the landscape that is around my home. Where I live is where my mother's father and mother ran a dairy farm. On the land, there are old buildings, barns, plows, racks, and old farm machinery that have aged over the years. They have taken on a beauty that inspires me. The rust of metal, all of the different colors that seem to have been dipped or poured on them. The decaying wood building with its many wrinkles and cracks reflects the beauty of aging over time.
